HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHTS: BONE CHILLING "RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES" WITH JAMES FRANCO, BRIAN COX AND FREIDA PINTO READY TO PREMIERE THIS AUGUST!

 One of the films that will spice up the end of summer in August is RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES which basically brings a completely new take on one of 20th Century Fox's most beloved and successful franchises. The film is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, it is a reality based cautionary tale, a science fiction/ science fact blend, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
APISH TIDBITS
Oscar winning visual effects house Weta Digital, employing some
of the groundbreaking technologies developed for Avatar, will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors. Tobey Maguire refused the lead role which then went to James Franco. The budget of the film was around $90 million!The film should premiere August 5th in cinemas around the world at the end of the summer blockbuster season. The slogan of the film is rather chilling and scary saying - Evolution Becomes Revolution!
THE STORY OF THE FILM
Will Rodman (James Franco) is working on a cure for Alzheimer's by performing tests on apes. The first test subject is Caesar: it genetically modifies his way of thinking to create a new breed of ape with human-like intelligence. Caesar learns well, but human authority continues to test him and contain him.
He eventually proves smart enough to break free from his cage and release the cure among other apes, affecting other apes like Caesar. Millions of apes begin to rally up a revolution. Soon, war breaks out between humans and apes. Rodman may be the only one able to stop them before the ape revolution succeeds in them becoming the dominant species on the planet.
Directed by Rupert Wyatt the film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto (whom we shall watch this year in IMMORTALS as well), Brian Cox, John Lithgow and Andy Serkis who gave life to the ape Caesar like he did to Gollum in LORD OF THE RINGS. I must admit that the first two trailers were horrid and they left me totally uninterested in seeing the film, but the fresh third one is absolutely magnificent and it left me speechless and a bit shaken. Check it out bellow:

  4. I am really looking forward to this. I know I will hate the early scenes where Caesar is abused but it will be sweet when those monkeys make their way over the Golden Gate bridge on their way to freedom.

  5. Am I the only one who finds that baby monkey super adorable?

  6. James Franco is everywhere these days, isn't he? Actually, Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks pretty good.

  7. Now this trailer makes the film look exciting. I just may have to check this out. But Conan comes first. ;)

  8. Congratulations to cinematographers. Planet of the Apes film has never looked more real, and yet more ridiculous at the same time. This level of dichotomy has never before been achieved in film industry, as far as I know. Bravo!

    This movie has interesting story, and great visuals. They even made me feel for those intelligent monkeys like never before.
    But there is only one way this story could end, and that is with those monkeys being killed or imprisoned once again.
    This is the most futile revolution I've ever seen. Do those monkeys have superpowers? Are they invulnerable to bullets and bombs? You can't take over a planet, or even a city for that matter, with inferior numbers, and armed with sticks and stones.

    Suspension of belief goes only to a certain point. Afterwards it can get kind of insulting to ones intelligence.

    I plan to get "spoilers" for this film before (or if) I decide to see it. Maybe there is some hidden (deeply hidden) design for this story that I can not yet see. Otherwise...

    I hope the film will surpass my expectation and really can be a cool reboot for the franchise.

  13. @Luanne
    they are, aren't they? Everything looks so realistic in the film!

    @Kal
    yes, we hate seeing animals tortured :( Although I didn't like the first two trailer, I liked this one because it finally shows the whole story.

    @Timmy

  14. @Debra
    unfortunately he is for no obvious reason, he's not bad, but he's nothing special.

    @Melsy
    but of course :) CONAN always comes first, no apes could beat him :)

    @Bels
    aren't those apes later going into space? To colonize their own planet? I mean I don't know if this film is connected in that respect with the older movies from the franchise, but that's what happens later on.

  18. When Tobey Maguire entered into talks with 20th Century Fox to star in RISE OF THE APES, The studio baulked when Maguire came back to the table with script notes. The conversations abruptly stopped and Fox moved quickly to close a deal with Franco.

    Maguire thought he had more clout than what he, now, actually does. Gone are the days of web slinging.

  19. he probably thought he was a big player since he's married to one of the studio bosses' daughter :)

  20. Hi Dezzy! Freida Pinto seems to be the go-to 'it girl' of the moment, man especially in Immortals with our dear Henry, lucky her! :D

  21. yep, she will be active this year, but I don't expect a mega successful career from her. SHe is kinda like Gemma Arterton, appears in a lot of great films, has beauty, charms and talent, but for some reason isn't alluring enough to general audience, I guess they don't have anyone powerful behind their backs.

  22. As I said when I saw a teaser for this one a while ago, it looks good. Can't wait!

  23. I'm really looking forward to Rise :D I'm a big PotA fan, except for Burton's remake. Bring on the apes!
